Course Description & Objectives: 

Study of the history and basic principles of fashion and its trends to the present day.  Examine the tools, materials and equipment for a fashion designer.  Drawing for fashion process, illustration and display related to human figure proportions, movement, posture and balance. The values of colour and textures in fashion design expressions.

Learning Outcomes: 

At the end of the course of study students should be able to:

  1. Understand what fashion is and the need for fashion
  2. Understand how fashion has evolved and influenced society to date and to carry out research into the history of fashion.
  3. Apply basic drawing skills in fashion designing
  4. Use various sewing machines and equipment in their practical class exercises.
