Course Description & Objectives:

The course will introduce the students to the biology of the honey bee including races and social behaviour and the practices of beekeeping.

Learning Outcomes:

Explain the scientific and socio-economic aspects of beekeeping
Relate bee biology and management to practical beekeeping situations
Apply bee management techniques
Develop and manage a progressive apiary for commercial purposes
Diagnose problems faced in the bee industry in Uganda and present solutions.
Appreciate that investment in beekeeping is a reliable Income Generating Activity (IGA), and friendly to the environment
