Course Description & Objectives: 

This course will cover photosynthetic diversity, processes utilizing various metabolites, synthesis of non-carbohydrates, synthesis of secondary plant products, regulation of cellular metabolism. 

Learning Outcomes: 

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

  •        discuss the photosynthetic diversity in plants with respect to carbon fixation  pathways
  •        describe cellular processes of utilizing chemical energy in various metabolites,
  •        explain how glucose is synthesized from non carbohydrate sources,
  •        describe lipid metabolism,
  •        describe the biosynthetic pathways of secondary metabolites in plants,
