Course Description & Objectives: 

This course discusses electrical and magnetic properties of the earth’s crust with the view of applications to electrical and magnetic methods in exploration of earth’s resources and underground irregularities. 

Learning Outcomes: 

At the end of the course the students should be able to:

  • Explain electrical resistivities of the earth.
  • Explain the remnant magnetism of rocks.
  • Measure electrical resistivity and magnetisation of rocks.
  • Interpret electrical and magnetic data of the earth.
