Course Description & Objectives: 

The course is the first part of health and the law.  It concerns itself with health rights and institutional mechanisms for safeguarding those rights.

Learning Outcomes: 

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Understand the relevance of law to public health;
  2. Identify the obligations of health providers and patients’ rights;
  3. Identify the remedies available in case of health malpractice; and
  4. Apply a rights-based approach to health.
