Course Description & Objectives: 

The course will expose students to tools, machinery as well processes involved in log extraction, transportation and conversion at saw mills.

Learning Outcomes: 
  • Students will be able to identify, select, proficiently use and maintain logging/sawmilling tools and equipment.
  • Students will be able to develop a logging plan and undertake safe and environmentally sound logging operations.
  • Students will be able to measure and grade logs, select appropriate conversion techniques to timber, and measure, grade and season the timber.
