Course Description & Objectives: 

The different minerals and mineral ores are studied from hand-specimens and their properties are described. The common rock minerals such as feldspars, quartz, chlorite and muscovite are studied also microscopically.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Course Objectives:At the end of the course students should be able to;

  • Identify the common rock forming minerals, and economic minerals using hand-specimens.
  •  Apply the principals of mineral chemistry and the main mineral groups:
  •  Describe the physical properties of the different minerals.
