Course Description & Objectives: 

This is a fieldwork course focusing on the hands-on use of equipment, field measurement techniques, field record keeping and the application of survey data in the Forestry management. It is a prerequisite course to the Surveying course undertaken in the second year.

Learning Outcomes: 
  • Produce forest maps
  • Estimate areas of land.
  • Estimate volumes of cuts and fills during forest road construction.
  • Produce maps using data obtained using the GPS and remote sensing equipment
