Course Description & Objectives: 

The course exposes students to practical skills in methods of establishing and verifying sustainable silvicultural systems Students acquire practical skills in plant recruitment methods both in plantations and natural forests, use natural forest harvesting infrastructure and tools, and will be exposed to selective logging and clear felling.

Learning Outcomes: 
  • design and use natural forest harvesting infrastructure and tools
  • Carry out selective logging and clear felling
  • Identify, classify, measure and manage forest gaps
  • Use silvicultural practices  in forest enterprise development
