The student will be working closely with specialists in the Department of Surgery during ward rounds, OPD clinics, emergency duties, discussions, tutorials, journal clubs, special diagnostic laboratory procedures etc. The student will also be given assignments, present tutorials and make case presentations to the department of Family Medicine.
By the end of this course, the student will be expected to:· Demonstrate knowledge of the management of common surgical conditions using evidence-based-medicine approach.· Demonstrate ability to recognise or suspect rare or complicated surgical conditions· Demonstrate knowledge of supportive care that can be given to patients· Keep a Problem-Oriented-Medical-Record (POMR) · Demonstrate knowledge of the management of surgical emergencies.· Demonstrate knowledge of when and how to refer.
