Course Description & Objectives: 

This course is a thematic, development-oriented approach to explore the contributions of Social Anthropology to understanding social change in Eastern Africa during the twentieth century. It addresses the concept of social change, impacts of social change on marginalized communities, land, agriculture, urbanization, family life, religion, the informal sector.
