Course Description & Objectives: 

Provides the teacher and prospective teacher an opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to design and implement institutional programs in secondary school physical education, including primary schools. 

Learning Outcomes: 

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Understand the role of education and physical education in Uganda, the past, present and future.
  2. Identify the physical, emotional, social and intellectual changes that take place in the adolescent student and the implication of these changes for learning motor skills in the physical education programmes with respect to their special and diverse learning needs.
  3. Develop physical education objectives that reflect directly or indirectly three domains: cognitive, affective and psychomotor.
  4. Activities to meet the needs of secondary students based upon their physical, cognitive, social and emotional development.
  5. Develop and implement daily lesson plans efficiently organized for time, space and skill.
  6. Prepare a set guidance for intramural, extramural, and club sports programs at the secondary level.
  7. Demonstrate knowledge of legal obligations of the teaching profession.
