The idea was developed upon recognition of the fact that in many developing countries and Africa region in particular, most policies are gender blind. The existing postgraduate programs in economics do not incorporate gender as a key component in policymaking and analysis. This has resulted not only in gender-blind policies but also inadequate academic research and publications which incorporate gender perspectives.
