Course Description & Objectives: 
  1. Science of accommodation: scientific analysis of practical problems in the use of floor coverings, soft furnishings and upholstery material;
  2. Properties of surfaces; Cleaning and their maintenance; 
  3. Effects of policies and other materials on surfaces; 
  4. Cleaning and disinfection of catering facilities and equipment; Various cleaning methods and material; identification of various products used in cleaning and disinfection including their advantages and disadvantages;
  5. Proper care of drainage systems and refuse disposal systems;
  6. Methods and procedures used in laundering various housekeeping articles such as linen, table covering and accessories, drapes/upholstery and soft furnishing;
  7. Cleaning methods and procedures applicable to floors, windows, and walls; 
  8. Proper care and attention to household plants;
  9. Application of appropriate heating, ventilation and illumination in hospitality establishments.
