Course Description & Objectives: 

AHS 202 reviews prehistoric cultural developments in Africa after the Pleistocene. The course will critically examine the archaeological, linguistic, and oral historic evidence for cultural developments and early African civilizations. Emphasis will be placed on understanding causes for such early civilizations and the relationships of these early civilizations in different parts of Africa. Also the theories that account for emergence of civilization will be evaluated. The course is pertinent to Archaeology, History and education students.
