Course Description & Objectives: 

The course is to equip the students with the knowledge and skills needed in the collection, processing and storage of crude drugs.  

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of this course, the student is expected to be able to:-

  • To identify, gather and sort materials for preparation of natural products;
  • To determine when, how and which parts of the natural products to be collected;
  • Process and appropriately store natural products to preserve their quality;
  • Optimize the yield of active constituents through cultivation of medicinal plants and application of tissue culture; and,
  • Assess the effects of faulty collection and storage on the chemical constituents.
