Course Description & Objectives: 

In this course, the student-teacher is introduced to the history, philosophy, and principles of physical education as related to general education. 

Learning Outcomes: 

Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able   to:-1.   Understand the nature and scope of physical education and sports, the role of sport in today’s world, and the contributions that persons involved in physical education and sport can make to society.2.   Understand the meaning of philosophy, the general philosophies, the philosophy of well-known physical educators and their influence on educational thinking.3.   Develop their own philosophy about physical education and sport from earliest times to be the present.4.   Understand the history of physical education and sport from earlier ties to the present.5.   Understand the psychological bases from which physical educators derive principles and concepts used in teaching.6.   Explain the meaning of various mechanical principles and concepts that govern human movement.
