Course Description & Objectives: 

This course introduces students to epidemiological modelling of endemic and pandemic diseases. Models on sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV/AIDS and the like are considered. Models on vector/parasite transmitted diseases like malaria, Schistosomiasis are also considered. In-host pathogen dynamics, computer simulation is done to get numerical and graphical solutions to these 

Learning Outcomes: 

This course is intended 

  • To give students an introduction to applications of Mathematics to Biomedical processes
  • To equip students with skills and techniques of model formulation, analysis and interpretation in biomedical research
