Course Description & Objectives: 

The course describes monitoring and evaluation concepts, design and planning, and execution of monitoring and evaluation in emergency and disaster situations.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Objective :To enable students acquire essential skills of monitoring and evaluation of interventions and programmes in emergency and disaster settings

Learning Outcomes: 

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:

  •  Explain the basic concepts of monitoring and evaluation
  •  Explain the project and programme cycle
  •  Carry out problem analysis using problem and objective trees
  •  Explain project/programme strategic directions
  •  Derive indicators for measuring performance results in an emergency and disaster project
  •  Construct a sound logical framework
  • Explain the requisites for optimum data management in an M&E system
  •  Explain types and processes of project / programme evaluation
  •  Design an M&E plan
  •  Discuss the roles of management and stakeholders in an effective and efficient M&E system
  •  Explain the components of good M&E reporting
