Course Description & Objectives: 

The course aims at giving students knowledge and skills in the collection and use of proper information using both quantitative and qualitative methods and techniques that can be applied in disaster situations. The course will cover introduction to research methods; conceptualization of a research problem; literature review; study design; sampling; sample size determination; measurement of study variables; data management and analysis plans; and identifying study limitations.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Objective:

  • To provide students with skills for data collection using quantitative and qualitative research methods.

  

Learning Outcomes: 

 At the end of the course, the student should be able to: 

  • Identify a researchable topic in Public Health disaster situations using scientific processes to identify a research question.
  • Conduct a literature review to identify gaps in available knowledge
  • Write a clear problem statement and justification
  • Identify appropriate methodologies for the identified research topic
  • Prepare a data analysis plan
  • Develop research concept paper on the topic chosen
