Course Description & Objectives: 

Concepts and definitions:  politics, political science, philosophy, ideology, systems.  Development in political, philosophy: the Greeks, the Romans, the Middle ages, Age and Englightment, the 20th century models.  Consensus Versus conflict theories:  Social, economic and political presentations.  The West vs the rest of the world.  Capitalism, Marxism, neo-Marxism and their relationship to political education.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Objectives:This course aims at achieving the following;

  1. Finding out the beginning of political theory by examining the Greek philosophies and theories.
  2. To expound and examine theories of constitutionalism in the Roman and Machiavellian models.
  3. To explore the development of political systems in the 18th , 19th and 20th centuries, basing on the English and some other European examples.
  4. To examine the impact of capitalism,  maxims and socialism on world political systems.
