Course Description & Objectives: 

In order to broaden the research perspective in Library and Information Science, it is important to introduce current research programmes of quantitative research paradigm. Bibliomentrics is a type of research used in library and information science. It utilizes quantitative analysis and statistics to describe patterns of publication within a given field or body of literature.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Objectives:To introduce learners to bibliometric and infometric research methods as unique methodological disciplines in LIS research.

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of the course, learners should be able to:

  • Explain the historical developments of bibliometrics
  • Discuss Bibliometric laws and regularities
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and implement bibliometric Research designs
  • Demonstrate ability to conduct and present bibliometric research
  • Demonstrate ability to apply bibliometric techniques in LIS
