Introduction to the unique features of non-governmental organizations as rehabilitation and development organizations; Their special implications for management; Time perspectives used by NGOs and their implications for the involvement of these organizations in interventions that require a relatively long planning perspective; NGOs impacts on the Welfare State and Community Social Support Systems; Issues of sustainability and accountability in NGOs; NGO-government relations.
