The course exposes students to the fundamentals of law; basic legal concept; legal problems affecting the mass media and the media professional; libel, defamation, censorship and other controls and regulations; the press, journalism and electronic media statutes in Uganda; legal implications of freedom of expression and individual rights to privacy; government controls on the news media; legal obligations of the journalist; intellectual property and rights.
