Course Description & Objectives: 

The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to information and communication technologies as they generally relate to disciplines in the built environment.  Students are expected to gain an appreciation of the need to select appropriate ICT systems for the various tasks and deal with issues of sustainability of ICT systems given the high rate of change in ICTs.  Basic operations of computers, information handling, computer networks and communications, computer graphics, CAD technology and computational processes.Practical work to familiarize students with word processing, spreadsheet and computer graphic software to provide hands-on knowledge in the most common software in these application categories.
