Course Description & Objectives: 

This course explores educational developments in Uganda.  It exposes students to education in pre-colonial, colonial and post colonial Uganda.  It shows students that although education was well developed in some African societies; western education did not build on them, rather a new order was introduced.  Focusing on Uganda, the course examines attempts made by the colonial and independent governments to align education to the needs of Uganda. 

Learning Outcomes: 
  1. The course will familiarize students with development of education system in pre-colonial Uganda.
  2. It will also acquaint students with development of colonial and post colonial education.
