Course Description & Objectives: 

The course explores the historical perspective of painting.  Learners are exposed to the traditional and modern developments in painting. It explores the characteristics, motives, materials and tools, instructions used and the effects of modern painting. Learner experiment in painting and studio technology based on the different materials, experiences, psychology, grounds supports and various painting styles.

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of this course, learners should be in position to.

  1. Explain the development of painting styles and materials through the ages.
  2. Analyze the different painting styles in relation to the teaching and learning of painting.
  3. Experiment with different painting styles and media.
  4. Explore the various visual effects of colour in relation to subject matter.
  5. Examine different colour over different grounds and supports.
  6. Examine the different methods and techniques used in the teaching of painting.
