Course Description & Objectives: 

This course will cover current issues related to ethnicity, migration and nationhood, specifically focusing on debates about the concepts of ‘tribe’ or ‘ethnicity’ and how they relate to personal identity and nationality. Students should be able to assess the impact of ethnic migration on access to resources by different ethnic groups.  Among the most important issue is the resultant conflicts and competition over resources with case studies from East Africa. (This course is similar to one under sociology)
