Course Description & Objectives: 

The course intends to equip students with knowledge and skills in Financial Management. By the end of the course, students should be able to: 

  • Appreciate the scope of Financial Management and make a distinction between financial management, management accounting & financial accounting.
  • Analyze and make informed, rational decisions in the key financial management areas of a firm especially investment analysis, management of working capital, long term and short term assets and management of company finances and earnings.
  • Make financial analysis for meeting business challenges in finance.

  

Learning Outcomes: 
  • Develop appropriate mechanisms of managing working capital for smooth day today operations
  • Make investment analysis and choose best investment alternatives based on different investment appraisal techniques
  • Prepare reports to management recommending best sources of finance for selected investment projects
  • Use ratios to analyze performance of different business entities.
