Course Description & Objectives: 

This introductory course to curriculum studies provides teacher trainees with the theoretical background and understanding of the field of curriculum at policy and practice levels.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      COURSE OBJECTIVE:                                                  The general objective of foundations of curriculum studies is to enable teacher trainees to conceptualise, analyse and critique the school curriculum as well as appreciate their role in its implementation. 

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of the course, teacher trainees should be able to;

  1. Explain the various components of a curriculum and how they relate to education.
  2. Examine the various elements of a curriculum and their application in the classroom and school system.
  3. Analyze the various determinants of a curriculum and their implication to curriculum design.
