Course Description & Objectives: 

This course is a follow up of MUS 1106. It builds on the technical skills of playing piano which were already established. Emphasis is on fundamentals: reading music, rhythm, chord structure and progressions as well as playing techniques and musical analysis.  Every student must participate in the Departmental Performances as part of course work.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Objectives: 

  • To strengthen the understanding of music fundamentals and theory
  • To develop in students the ability to interpret the pieces they are playing
  • To enhance further acquisition of keyboard skills
  • To enhance the aural and sight reading skills
Learning Outcomes: 
  • Better understanding of piano music fundamentals and theory
  • Ability to interpret the pieces assigned
  • Acquisition of higher keyboard skills
  • Enhanced hearing and sight reading skills
