Course Description & Objectives: 

The local government sphere is mandated to provide services to their communities. This is done through planning and setting up policy frameworks; resource mobilization and allocation; establishment and maintenance of public infrastructure. Where local government entities are unable to deliver such services, the socioeconomic and political aspects of development are endangered.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Objective:

  • To enable the participants to gain skills and apply the relevant competences required to foster efficient and effective management of local government institutions and service delivery mandates.
Learning Outcomes: 

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Analyse and Interpret the socioeconomic, political and legal framework that concerns local government environment in the developing world with emphasis on Uganda;
  • Apply the broad managerial and administrative framework to local government development.
  • Apply the principles of sustainable development in local government.
