Course Description & Objectives: 

The course will discuss in depth the intricacies of innovation and new product development, and the problems faced by managers in this area. This course will equip students with the concepts, tools, methods and approaches relating to management of innovation and new product development. Active participation in this course will provide students with the opportunity to gain practical, real world experience in the application of these tools and approaches. 

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • Describe theoretical bases of innovation
  • Establish a stage-gate based new product development process
  • Formulate new products/services
  • Use customer requirements to develop new products
  • Use experimentation in product/service design
