Course Description & Objectives:

The course gives a sociological approach to an interpretation of religious phenomena and offers an important avenue for understanding the significance of religion in society including the daily interaction of different individuals.  It provides a frame of reference for thinking, research and defining problems as a set of empirical generalization derived from past studies.  The course offers students a perspective of studying the relationship between ideas and ideals embodied in religious movements and institutions, their origins, growth and decline.
