Course Description & Objectives: 

This course equips students with skills in cost and management accounting so that they can be able to provide relevant and valuable cost and management information that is important in the execution of planning, controlling and decision making.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Objectives:By the end of the course students should be able to;

  • Prepare cost statements and present management information in a form suitable to enable execution of managerial functions.
  • prepare budgets and ensure budgetary control
  • Make managements decisions
  • Assess the emerging themes in management accounting
  • Make management decisions.

 

Learning Outcomes: 

Students should be able to;

  • Know the advanced costing systems like ABC.
  • Identify costs relevant for decision making and those which are irrelevant.
  • Develop techniques and skills for analysis and making good reports to managers which support decision making.
  • Carry out evaluation of performance through variance analysis and be able to take appropriate actions.
