Course Description & Objectives: 

This course targets teachers and other officers working in laboratory related disciplines. It exposes the learner to both basic and advanced techniques in biological sciences. The course uses practical approaches aimed at giving more advanced skills to learners

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of the course, the students should be able to:

  • Discuss procedures involved in the effective management of the biological science laboratory
  • Examine duties and responsibilities of the different staff members in a biological science department
  • Acquire skills in effective use of various types of microscopes
  • Acquire skills in sectioning, staining and fixation
  • Acquire analytical skills in both qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Acquire skills in management of laboratory animals
  • Carry out biological work and provide appropriate report
