This is a core course that must be passed by all students. Students shall demonstrate a thorough understanding and ability to practice community-oriented primary care.
By the end of this course, under the supervision of a consultant Family Physician at a regional, general or district hospital that meets the minimum requirements to be a teaching hospital, the student shall be able to:· Demonstrate ability to plan time such that there is a balance between institution-based clinical work, outreach and community support activities· Put into practice all the principles of community practice mastered in the previous years.· Integrate all that they have learnt previously as regards the principles and practice of whole-person Medicine taking into consideration the bio-psycho-social assessment and management plan· Demonstrate community entry skills· Demonstrate cultural competence· Apply screening techniques for the early detection of disease and promotion of Health.
