Course Description & Objectives: 

This course explores the theoretical background of curriculum change and innovation using case studies of curriculum innovations from developing and developed countries. The course introduces the students to strategies of curriculum change and innovation as well as challenges to change and their mitigating factors. In addition, the course equips the students with skills of action research within educational institutions and outside to identify needs, stakeholder analysis, data collection techniques among others as a basis for curriculum change.

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  1. Plan for a curriculum innovation
  2. Identify opportunities for curriculum change and innovation
  3. Plan and undertake action research for improvement and change
  4. Disseminate findings of action research for wider implementation and attitude change
