The M.Ed. in Curriculum Studies programme runs for four semesters, offering advanced specialized courses in Curriculum studies. It consists of nine course units namely: Contemplorary Curricular Issues in Teaching, Curriculum, Design and Development, Teaching and Instruction, Communication and Instructional Design Systems, Curriculum Evaluation, and Supervisory Technique for Educational Institutions. The department also offers courses in which learners wish to specialize. These include CUS 7206 Integration of e-learning into Curricula and CUS 7104 Curriculum Change and Innovation. The course is assessed by coursework (40%) and Examination (60%). In addition, students carry out research and are required to write a dissertation.In alignment with the reviewed courses, the teaching and assessment approaches have been reviewed to make them more interactive and lucid. For instance, the instructional strategies are more student-led and practical than they were originally. Overall, the review has revisited the entire programme including objectives, content and mode of delivery. In these revised course units, pedagogy and assessment will hinge on highly interactive lectures, seminars and/or workshops, tutorials, coursework assignments, project work and a research dissertation.The Masters of Education in Curriculum Studies degree program runs for four semesters with theoretical, practical and research components. In the first year, instructional and theoretical courses are offered. In the second year, students undertake research that lead to the writing of a dissertation. The courses are intended to facilitate students’ interpretation and critique of the fundamental theoretical, political and structural underpinnings in educational institutional and students’ central role in its implementation and modification.
Applicants must be teachers with good first degree in or with education.
