Course Description & Objectives:
The course aims to enable the student to understand the concepts and good practices in the area of environmental health in emergencies, and to effectively participate in disaster preparedness, including prevention and mitigation, and to plan and implement response interventions in those settings. Course Objectives ;
- To equip students with knowledge and skills in site selection, in order to ensure high quality water supplies and safe and adequate disposal of human and non-human waste and rubbish. To enhance knowledge and skills required to implement different kinds of vector control methods.
- To recognise the critical importance of detailed advance planning for effective management of environmental health services and resources in the event of a disaster.
- To understand the factors involved in planning for systematic restoration of environmental health services.
