Course Description & Objectives: 

This course underscores the importance of evaluation in enhancing teaching and learning. It focuses on day to day classroom assessment practices in light of the existing contextual frameworks.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        COURSE OBJECTIVE: Through exploring the concepts of evaluation and assessment, the course provides teacher trainees with knowledge and competencies to effectively analyze and critique classroom practice.

Learning Outcomes: 

Teacher trainees should be able to:

  1. Appreciate the role of evaluation in curriculum development and implementation in order to make it part and parcel of their practice.
  2. Analyse the contextual and philosophical factors influencing curriculum evaluation in order to identify and apply appropriate assessment practices.
  3. Critique the existing assessment and evaluation tools in terms of their appropriateness
  4. Design and administer suitable assessment tools to enhance the teaching/learning process.
