Topics include: Introduction to GIS, computers and programming, map analysis, raster and vector GIS capabilities, data acquisition, spatial data bases and analysis, output and data bases and analysis, output and data transfer, trends in GIS, co-ordinate systems and geocoding, vector and raster data structures and algorithms, data base management systems, hierarchial model, network model, relational model and data security, visualisation of spatial data and colour theory.
