Introduction To Kiswahili Literature

This course gives a general introduction to Kiswahili literature. It covers the following: the role literature in society, introduction to various Kiswahili genres. It re-examines and restates the relations between the literary text, ideology and history and assesses the previous accounts of Kiswahili literary production and literary theory. African philosophy will also be introduced as an important tool of analysis and critical thinking.
