Course Description & Objectives: 

The student will learn basic chain construction using mainly wire stock. The student will also learn basic metal smithing techniques especially essential processes the cutting and manipulation of sheet metal into jewelry. Objectives;Will explore essential metal smithing techniques, using locally available materials, tools and equipment. 

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of this semester the first year student should:

  • Be able to use drawing to document new ideas
  • Draw interesting shapes from the environment
  • Keep them an archive of Drawings with the intention of using them as a resource for inspiration and for developing new ideas for jewelry.
  • He should be able to use drawing as a documentation tool as well as a research tool,
  • Use drawing for collecting documenting new material
