Course Description & Objectives: 

This course prepares prospective teachers in the teaching and learning of mathematics. It equips them with the knowledge, skills, methods and theories of teaching and learning mathematics and the rationale for teaching it. It aims at using participatory approach.

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Explain the rational of teaching mathematics.
  2. Create positive attitude in learners.
  3. Use theories of learning to make classroom decisions.
  4. Teach mathematics through a variety of methods that motivate students to learn.
  5. Analyze the  content  to be taught in preparation for teaching.
