Course Description & Objectives: 

This course provides an introduction to health policy and health service professionals who anticipate taking on substantial management responsibilities or who hold management positions.  The course is both analytical and interventionist i.e. tracing opportunities for intervention to change or capitalize on particular links or causalities.  No one theoretical perspective dominates the course and principles of management are illustrated through case analysis.  

Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of the course, participants would have:

  •  Acquired appropriate knowledge and skills in:
  • Organizing, planning, and managing  health services at district level
  • Organizational assessment
  • Resource management at district level
  • Monitoring and evaluation of health systems
  • Financial management
