Course Description & Objectives: 

The student shall acquire a deep knowledge and understanding of the principles of patient-centred, family-oriented and community-based care. The principles of commitment to the person other than to a disease, the understanding of the context of the illness, the realisation of the opportunity offered by every patient encounter for health education and health promotion, management of resources and provision of a continuum of care for a defined community.Students will be facilitated to develop a deep and good understanding of the process of organizing communities, making communities or groups of people into units of identity and solution. They will appreciate the value of organizing communities as opposed to just mobilization. The student will learn the methods of communication, mobilization, intersectoral collaboration, project planning and management, District-level work plan development, implementation, and monitoring, skills of support supervision for quality assurance in health delivery.
