Course Description & Objectives: 

The course will cover the concept of sexual and reproductive health as applied to provision of services for emergency-affected populations including; maternal health, child health, family planning, sexually transmitted infections, adolescent health and gender-based violence. Sexual and reproductive interventions including antenatal, natal and post natal care will be discussed. Sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS management will be discussed. Measurements and indicators of sexual and reproductive health will be discussed.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Objectives:

  • The course will equip students with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to address sexual and reproductive health (SRH) among populations affected by emergencies.

 

Learning Outcomes: 

At the end of the course, the student should be able to: 

  • Describe the rationale for providing RH services in emergencies
  • Sexual and reproductive health morbidity and mortality and measurements
  • Discuss the minimum initial service package for RH in Emergencies (MISP)
  • Identify effective RH programmes in emergencies
  • Assess gaps in RH services in emergencies
  • Collect and analyse RH data to guide programmatic decisions
