Course Description & Objectives:
- Science of accommodation: scientific analysis of practical problems in the use of floor coverings, soft furnishings and upholstery material;
- Properties of surfaces; Cleaning and their maintenance;
- Effects of policies and other materials on surfaces;
- Cleaning and disinfection of catering facilities and equipment; Various cleaning methods and material; identification of various products used in cleaning and disinfection including their advantages and disadvantages;
- Proper care of drainage systems and refuse disposal systems;
- Methods and procedures used in laundering various housekeeping articles such as linen, table covering and accessories, drapes/upholstery and soft furnishing;
- Cleaning methods and procedures applicable to floors, windows, and walls;
- Proper care and attention to household plants;
- Application of appropriate heating, ventilation and illumination in hospitality establishments.
