Course Description & Objectives: 

Infectious and non-infectious diseases of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems are explored. The major infectious etiologic agents are discussed. The evolution of the disorders is explained and the gross and histopathological changes described. Clinical pharmacology of drugs used in the management of the disorders is outlined.

Learning Outcomes: 

The students will:

  1. Explain the epidemiology and pathogenesis of cardiovascular and respiratory disorders
  2. Discuss  the  role  of  laboratory  and  imaging  investigative  procedures  in  management  of cardiovascular and respiratory disorders
  3. Demonstrate  specified laboratory  investigative procedures  for cardiovascular and  respiratory disorders
  4. Describe the clinical pharmacology of drugs acting on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems
